How’s your gut?
I’m super grateful to my colleague Prajakta, a gut health expert. We recently had a great chat on her podcast, ‘Your Gut Health Made Simple”.
We all know the feeling, “ I can’t stomach this!” In this conversation we talk about the relationship between gut health and somatic psychotherapy to help you feel better.
It’s rare that we see a lot of cross discipline discussions in the modern, western approach to health and wellness. I love that this conversation with Prajakta, who is a nutritionist, is open to combining her knowledge with wisdom from body-oriented therapies.
At this point most people have heard the sympathetic nervous system is associated with “fight or flight”. Well our parasympathetic nervous allows for “rest and digest”.
With the nervous system as our base understanding, hear my take on how somatic psychotherapy can help gut issues. I’ve been working with clients with chronic gut issues for over 15 years. Knowing what is going on with their bodies from a nervous system perspective and connecting their stress triggers to their gut responses is deeply empowering.
